Feminists exploring Africa’s future
INVITATION TO ATTEND AN EVENT EXPLORING AFRICA’S FUTURE
As foreign countries increasingly become involved in Africa both commercially and militarily, young academics from across the continent debate fundamental questions about the dividend or negative consequences of these developments. Organised by the University of Nairobi and the African Leadership Centre of King’s College London, these debates on June 24 in Nairobi, which involve role-playing scenarios, raise questions that are too hot for most established politicians around the globe to touch.
Exploring another issue that is central to Africa’s future, a public lecture by Amina Mama, Chair of the Women’s Global Forum, at the same event explores the role of women in the continent’s armed conflicts and questions whether post-conflict societies are resulting in a better life for the majority of women.
Media representatives are invited to attend these events on June 24 (see attached for further information) and engage in and report on these controversial, and vitally important issues.
