France must Repay Haiti Independence Debt
For Haiti November 18th and January 1st are specifically dedicated each year to the INDEPENDENCE DEBT. For November 18 – the last battle where the Haitians defeated Napoleon and January 1st Haiti’s Independence Day, HLLN welcomes all those interested in ending the UN/US occupation of Haiti and returning back Haiti’s sovereignty to help by signing the petition for return of the Independence Debt and by sending out letters to their nearest French embassy reminding them that this injustice will NEVER be forgotten by people of good-will across the world.
This petition calls for the full restitution by the State of France of funds it extorted from the Republic of Haiti at gun point starting in 1825. In 2004, the value of the infamous Charles X ransom was estimated at $22 billion U.S. This demand is an initial measure of economic justice and respect for Haiti’s territorial sovereignty and revolutionary legacy.
