		<description>I recently had a conversation with a friend and fellow scholar about how we as people of color need to dedicate more time to telling our histories.  Too many of our stories are being told (if you can even call it that) by the white academic elite. 

I first read &quot;I Write What I Like&quot; as an undergraduate student.  Hi work put me on a quest to seek out works written by more of us throughout the African Diaspora. 

I will definitely be adding these books to my ever expanding reading list.
