I am a Community Organiser

Organising within my multiple communities……………..

Every Wednesday evening since September 2007 I, along with many other people have stood together in a weekly vigil outside the Brazilian Embassy and Consulates in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Port-au-Prince calling for the safe return of human rights activist Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine who disappeared on the 12th August 2007 in Port-au-Prince. The vigil is held outside the Brazilian Embassies because they lead the misnamed UN mission in Haiti “The UN Stabilization Mission” (MINUSTAH) and it is their responsibility to investigate what happened to Lovinsky and bring those responsible for his abduction to justice and return him to his family and community. In all of these the MINUSTAH has failed.

Black British poet and activist Benjamin Zephaniah NAMES the UN’s atrocious behaviour in Haiti which includes, rape of women and girls, killing and maiming of innocent civilians and destruction of the homes of some of the poorest people………

The UN is a great idea. In principle I am all for nations coming together to make the world a better place. But of late I have lost faith in this organisation we know as the United Nations. In some parts of the world where they have been sent to protect the vulnerable they have raped men, women and girls, and in Haiti they are not only covering up atrocities against some of the poorest people in the world but they are perpetrating them. It is also to be said that if we were really nations united we would have given the disappearance of Lovinsky Pierre-Antoine the attention it deserves, I think the silence surrounding this great man’s disappearance is a disgrace and I urge all caring people to shout his name out loud at every opportunity. We dont need the United Nations to be united…

    Sad.

Benjamin Zephaniah unfortunately either won’t go to the heart of the matter; and speak up on root cause issues; or he has yet to confront his denial. Many ‘community organizers’ are yet to face these realities. Perhaps they shall one day wake up, and listen to those who have been where they are now, and if so, real change can occur.

What is real change? FTW said it best:

“From FTW’s perspective, as we have said so consistently, until we change the way money works, solutions to Peak Oil, food shortages, collapse and sustainability remain unreachable from a national or cultural level because it is simply more profitable to let people die and accelerate collapse through excessive consumption than it is to behave like a species that wishes to survive.

Like most who decide that something is really wrong and said, “I’m going to do something about this”, Aaron Russo has pulled one worm out of the can and is slowly realizing, even now, that with one worm, you get all the rest of its cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews and parents.”

Die-off is here, like a frog in a warm bowl of water, and it’s slowly being heated up, and by the time most wake up, they will be ready for the blood sucking parasites.

JMMSwan @ You seem to have missed the point of this post. The community organiser in this instance is Lovinsky not Zephaniah. It is because of facing up to the realities of life for the masses in Haiti – his human rights work with families women and children that Lovinsky has been abducted.

    Sokari,

I got that ‘point’. My point was a little deeper than that. Facing up to the realities of the masses, means telling the masses the truth about geopolitics 101 [http://www.geo-politics-101.co.nr/] Population Policy!!! The foundation of ALL GOVERMENT POLICIES ARE POPULATION POLICY! It is not a message many ‘community organizers’ are willing to confront, and if they are aware of it, very few are willing to confront the masses with it. Until they do, the masses will be treated like cannon-fodder “useless eaters” because in the eyes of the elite, that is how they behave in terms of their procreation choices. Zephaniah ain’t screaming it from the hilltops, even though the United Nations has publicly admitted — although the media has not broadcast that message (except pravda, that I am aware of) — that the UN do not address the CAUSES OF THE MASSES PROBLEMS (population procreation issues), they simply address the consequences — starvation, etc.

Ok this is a “attack Zephaniah moment” and a deviation away from the work of Lovinsky, his abduction and the abuses of the UN Mission in Haiti. Where would you like him to start screaming so I can pass the message on???. I do not agree that the causes of the MASSES problems are their procreation choices or that the foundation of all government policy is population policy. That is your opinion and not a fact! It is a cheap easy shot to attack the masses on the basis of their procreation choices.

Following a post by JMSwain which was sent to me via the contact box, in which s/he claims

“Black Looks and Ms. Ekine were not at all interested in any further discussion, nor in providing any ethical, or honourable notice of their refusal to post the response”.

This is a bare faced lie and for this reason Swain you cannot make any further comments on this blog. Of course you are free to rant your spiel on your own blog but not here.
