Whose rights matter more, anyway –is it the human rights of criminal suspects or the human rights of victims of crime?

I think the human rights of the victims are more important.

Being a woman that has faced both sexual and domestic abuse, I wouldn't want to recount blow by blow details of the event. Unless I was in the private room with the judge and the lawyers. They say that criminals have rights. It is true, they do. The victims should be respected more and not have to face that person again until the criminal is sentenced.

So all in all, I agree totally with you.

I had many responses as I read this interesting essay. But the most pertinent one is this: does mob justice really have much of a history of being used on behalf of female victims of sexual violence?
