The night before he died I was with my best friends and I said "I really don't like Marvin Gaye". My friends disagreed vehemently. I woke up the next day and he was dead. I will feel forever sad and guilty (though I know I had no hand in his death) and actually I do like him, I was just being flippant because I was THAT age. I am still fascinated by the fact that so many people who are responsible for bringing us joy - entertainers, comedians etc- descend into drugs and self-destructive behavior (to the point of being shot by your own father!!).
