Lesbian herstories

Sometimes X, Sometimes Y, Always Me, is an anthology of of writings and poetry from South Africa lesbians. The anthology is now available online as an e-book published by the Triangle Project on behalf of the Joint Working Group for LGBTs in South Africa. The herstories and poems are moving testimonies that speak to the reality of lesbian life in South Africa – in the words of Ulla Kelly in her piece “Really Bad Lesbian Pottery”:
Celebrating difference,celebrating strangeness,fighting against
uniformity,is the only way we can guarantee a tolerant and safe society.
The book is divided into four sections covering: Coming Out, Homophobia, Diversity and Hope and is dedicated to Zoliswa Nkonyana, a 19 year old lesbian who was “clubbed, kicked and beaten to death by a mob of about 20 young men on February 4 (Cape Town 2006)”.

Ooooooooooh lesbian porn!
Sad that you should dismiss the courage of these women to write their stories as lesbian porn not to speak of insulting the memory of Zoliswa Nkonyana and all the other SA lesbians beaten and murdered for being women who love women.
Lesbians in Africa face abuse and violence simply for not fitting social expectations of how women should act. I think its important that we move on from that level of intolerance. I will certainly download and read Sometimes X, Sometimes Y, Always Me. Thanks Sokari.
This is awesome.
As an African American Woman, Mother, Lesbian it’s interesting to me to hear and read about the experiences of Black Lesbians living in South Africa, where apparently Homophobia is even more pervasive.
“Sometimes X, Sometimes Y, Always Me” has been me since I was thirteen years old!
