Whether you are light skinned or dark skinned continues to be a deciding factor of beauty and the level of acceptance to many in our communities. In A Girl Like Me, young African Americans discuss the issue of skin tone amongst Black people. The film was made by 16 year old Kiri Davis who wanted to explore “standards of beauty imposed on today’s black girlsand how these affect self-esteem particularly of young girls growing up in the US. A powerful but disturbing film with some poignant comments.

We don’t know who we should be cause we dont really know where we come from
