This poem was written by Mshairi in support of the campaign to Free the Egyptians
as the Egyptian morning star ascends
I hear you call mother
at Egypt’s dawn’s first light I arise
with eager and uplifted spirit I abandon
myself to magical Egyptian metamorphosis
accentuated eyes and lips ostrich feather
adorning dazzling headdress tunic
embellished with stunning Egyptian silver and Egyptian gold skeins
egyptian beads cowrie shells the amulet you gave me mother
drapes down and completes the wondrous Egyptian transformation
like an Egyptian rain cloud beauty flows through and around me
