3rd term bribes

in Nigeria

Nigerian representatives have been offered land in exchange for support of Obasanjo’s third term project. Uche Onyeagucha representative for Owerri Imo State spoke on Network Africa yesterday saying he had been offered land in exchange for his endorsement of the third term project. Now I don’t personally know any Nigerian Senators or Representatives except for one, Uche and I know him well. Uche is a member of the Progressive Grand Alliance party. Uche is a democrat, one of the few progessive thinking Nigerian politicians. Formerly on the defence team for Ken Saro Wiwa, environmental lawyer and activist for Environmental Rights Action and the Niger Delta. When Uche says this happened I have no doubt in my mind that it did. Alongside Uche, PDP Representative, Bako Sarai (Kano State) was also interviewed and suggested Obasanjo run not only for a 3rd term, but 4th, 5th and for life – think he got a bit carried away but the message is clear. Of course he denied the bribery charges.
