Wrote this up last night but decided not to post till I had hmm slept on it so to speak.

We won but what a lacklustre performance! Now is not the time for recriminations but I have to question why Reyes is still an Arsenal player? whats the point of beating a dead horse?

Lehmann a hero more so for saving a penalty that was really a dive – it was strange watching the match here, all we were shown were Villa fans crying – I thought the club president was going to have a heart attack the poor man was beside himself.

I have decided to go to London for 10 days to watch the final so at least I can see replays and replays, match of the day, chat blah blah blah over and over again. Of course I will also be there for the victory parade on Holloway Road round the new stadium.

It will be interesting though here in southern Spain to watch all those Real Madrid supporters cheering for Barca for once in their lives. In Spain football is political and loyalities can be traced back to the Spanish Civil War. Fascist dictator General Franco supported Real Madrid whilst the Catalans largely “Republican” (fairly broad definition of the alliance against Franco) obviously supported Barcelona. In small villages across Andalucia you find bars that are RM and bars that are Barcelona or one village that is all RM or all Barcelona giving you an insight into their historical nationalist/republican persuasions.

Oh and here’s Rethable’s comment which he left on Book Meme as I hadn’t got this posted early enough.

“Good thing Villa missed that penalty, huh?” Well last week they were moaning they didnt get the penality so this time they decided to create one by diving and well the rest is history!
