[...] Black Looks who has a sparkling new home also responded to the statement and said No wonder rape has reached epidemic proportions if this is the way men think…This is so outrageous. The same song is sung everyday ” in our culture…we dont do this we dont do that but what we do do is condone abuse and take away people’s human rights”. To hell with this so called culture we have, we need to get rid of it because it is killing us and destroying our lives. [...]

[...] Black Looks: Kenya’s women MPs Walk Out Of Parliament They walked out to object to this statement, said by a male MP arguing against a new sexual assault bill: “If the bill is adopted the way it is, it will prevent men from courting women and this will be a serious impediment to the young who would want to marry. In our culture, when women say ‘No’, they mean ‘Yes’ unless it’s a prostitute.” [...]

It is very tragic that our culture not only undervalues women and their safety, but that our leaders resist attempts to make laws that protect women and enforce justice. Rape is not taken seriously yet it affects women in all sectors of society, with a wide range of age, despite their personal appearance or character. Instead of people looking at the issue, they usually make a personal attack on the victims. I wonder if any of the men are thinking of their wives and daughters. This aspect of the culture has to be rejected.
