Weichegud!ETPolitics on Darfur, Rwanda and Africa’s responsbility
As Africans, we failed.
One of the biggest failures among us was Kofi Annan, an African, who was warned about the impending genocide on January, 11, 1994. His response to the cable from Major General Roméo Dallaire will always remind us that an African failed us first.
Agathon Rwasa on the failures of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee (TRC) in South Africa
South Africans are tremendous people” and the successes of the TRC had set an international benchmark in dealing with post-conflict situations, yet it failed to meet the needs of victims or reveal the full truth in many cases.
Gukira on Rhetorical Violence - decides No to moderation, deleting offensive posts and gangsta writing.
At some point, one has to refuse the options offered by disagreeable interlocutors….I dislike manipulation. I also dislike bullies. And, though no one would ever call me brave, I try not to let my options be dictated by the threat of violence. I will not flinch as I anticipate the next slap.
I have to say that registration is a pain and in most cases puts me off commenting. Comment moderation is also a pain as you even have to delete or approve your own comments and in typepad it only works one comment at a time. On those two alone I prefer not to have any moderation but you have to weigh that up against giving space to gangstas! However Gukira makes an excellent point in refusing to give in to bullies and we do have the choice to respond or ignore whatever they have to say - so in the spirit of Gukira I have turned off my comment moderation!
On a lighter note though no less important is this video clip of Fela - his words remain as applicable today as they did 20 years ago - the same VIPs are still with us today.
NIGERIA: long & difficult history; corruption, greed & murder of the innocents! with a piece of Nigerian history Fela “U be thief” - green briefs and all - brilliant.

Nice interview you gave to the BBC.
I especially like your comment on editorial control, as it’s misconception many mainstream journalists have.
