in The World

A couple of useful Katrina activities even if you dont live in the US.

Katrina People Finder – they need people to help enter unstructured data into a structured database of names.

I Can Help - Real Help for Katrina victims:   A forum for those who can help in anyway and for those who need help.

After thought:

I just watched a news report on Katrina from New Orleans which included a short piece on Bush the Elder and Clinton who are leading a fund raising campaign.    It  is one thing for individuals, families, groups and religious bodies to donate their time, their homes, resources and to collect food and other basics for the survivors of Katrina.  That is admirable.   But there is something quite unpalatable about seeing George Bush and Bill Clinton, who cannot be seen as anything but representatives of the government, asking for monetary donations when the government they speak for is spending millions a day fighting its illegal war of lies in Iraq not to talk of the thousands and thousands of people already dead and dying in that country every day.  This just does not work for me.
