Let us be cautiously optimistic about the appointment of Ngozi Okonjo Iwealla as the Finance minister.
Obasanjo has just done what other past military leader did in the past.
The aim is purely political,a ploy to garner international recognition, but in reality a farce. Take for example- Kalu Idika Kalu,Wole Soyinka,Tai Solarin,Bola Ige and a host of others,They all failed and their policies abandoned.
What has changed eversince Okonjos appointment?;nothing things are even getting worst in reality.
She told the world the reason why Nigerians cannot enjoy economic propersity is as a result of our population.
According to her nations like Libya ,Saudi Arabia,Kuwait etc are small countries and that accounts for their economic propèrity.
On her watch Obasanjos government continues to borrow money both from the world bank and other international financial institutions despite the oil wind fall, with the lame excuses that the amount is meagre and the terms and precentage is smaller And moreso, the funds will be judiously used to help the suffering masses.
It might interest the reader to know that Obasanjo was the first Nigeria leader to borrow from any financial institution,He (Obasanjo turned this nation from a creditor nation to a debtor nation)
In her recent articles she has continued to defend all the wicked and callous policies of this administration.
For two consecutive years the budget of the federal republic of Nigeria has been altered and slashed after approval by the Senate, all of these she have defended vigorously too,but the question is,
How can an accomplished expert of her stature commit such sensitive error for two years in a row? The answer is so simple for anyone who is conversant with Obasanjos style--- it is purely excutive lawlessness which has been willing to admit and that is the reason behind this write-up.
Methinks,she has lost the momentum.
Noboby expects things to change overnight after decades of gross misrule, but common sense and examples from across the globe have shown that if and when a popular government put in place and implements sound economic policies two years is enough time to feel the effect despite how slight.
Ngozi, couldnt you have written your name in gold if you can convince this administration to do one of the following namely--
(1)Build and maintain our refineries and stop the importation of petroleum products.
(2)Put food on the table of the suffering masses.
(3) create a welfare state.
These goal are within reach, they are not in the skies and you know it.
Is it not funny to hear that part of the money your ministry is borrowing will go to NEPA.
Ngozi, Do you know how many times Nigerians have been told these tales of woe.
Even the Late legal luminary Bola Ige was convinced into accepting the wrong job all in a bid make NEPA work all to avail by the time he realised it was nightmare, it was just too late and he paid the supreme price and all is now history.
My wish is that you succeed, because your success is our success and my advice is that you quit when all is stalled and when the ovation is loudest or esle you may have written your name on the wrong side of nations history.

Like the rest I hope this lady returns after Obansanjo leaves. I'm sure someone will place her in a good position to help the country in the future.

Our future lies in hands of visionaries like her and leaders such as Donald Duke (Cross River State)
