Some of you may remember that I spent a few weeks in the US in
September this year.   
Whilst there I bought quite a few books in various well known independent and chain bookshops.   I also visited a local library  where I
selected a number  of articles from various journals on their shelves
to be photocopied.   A friend kindly offered to
send the whole lot in a package to me here in Spain as my suitcase was already full.  Today I received
an email from her describing what happened to the package and her after
posting it  last week and thereby explaining why it had not yet
arrived.

Yesterday, she received a notice to pick up a
package from the post office and thinking  hey I have an xmas gift
went merrily over to the post office.   Once there she was asked to go
to an office in "the bowels of my local post office" Of course everyone
is staring at her and she is then met by a "postal police officer" with
a gun in the holster!!.   The package had been returned because either
the Spainish or US customs (we are not sure but possibly a bit of both)
"inspected" the box of books and had all these "homeland security"
bullshit issues with it. 

It all got a bit "humourous" (her
words) when they, the postal police /homeland security tried to
intimidate and scare her with a lot of crap about terrrorism.  She
stuck with the truth of the matter which is that she is a librarian and that her friends (us) are scholars who are
doing research and need the material .  She was grilled about who we
are in Spain, our relationship to her etc . 

Unbelieveable bullshit .  So this is how the real facisim/military state known as US of A is unfolding!
Once I receive the package I will post a list of the books and articles concerned so everyone can see how subversive the items are!
